Ash's journey thus far
After Ash's efforts in the Hoenn region and the Battle Frontier, he decides to set off straight to the Sinnoh region with only his trusty Pikachu by his side for a brand new adventure! However, one of Ash's other Pokemon, Aipom, decided to follow Ash too. Once there, he meets Dawn, a new Pokemon coordinator who is just beginning her own Pokemon journey. Along the way, they also encounter Brock who once again who joins Ash in his journey one last time.
Along the way, both Ash and Dawn encounter rivals who they must overcome if they want to progress in their journey. Ash goes toe to toe against his new rival, Paul. While Dawn has to face off against her childrood friend, Kenny, and largest competitor, Zoey. Furthermore, the always present Team Rocket is right on Ash's tail at every step. As well as the regional villains, Team Galactic, who aim to recreate the Pokemon universe.
By the end of Sinnoh League Victors, Ash barely misses his chance and comes in the Top 4 of the Sinnoh league. Not to be discouraged and willing to continue exploring the Pokemon world, he continues towards the Unova region. However, Brock decides it is time for him to end his travels with Ash and largely remains in Kanto for following adventures.
The characters
Throughout Sinnoh, Ash has met friends and foes alike. Use the menu to be sent to a specific character or keep scrolling to read them all.
Please note that this is not an extensive list of characters which appear in Sinnoh. Only prominent characters have been featured in this list. The full list of characters can be found on the wiki.
The list will also not feature any cameos from past regions, only characters new to Ash's journey.
Professor Rowan
Professor Rowan is the professor of the Sinnoh region and specialises in Pokemon evolutions. Like all other professors, he is tasked with beginning a trainer's journey by giving them their first Pokemon and a Pokedex.
Professor Rowan's lab can be found in Sandgem Town, which is the starting point for all trainers in Hoenn. And is where Ash has his first battle against his new rival, Paul.
Dawn
Dawn is Ash's brand new companion in the Sinnoh region. And a Pokemon coordinator who participates in Pokemon contests. Her hometown is Twinleaf Town where she lives with her mother, Johanna. Upon beginning her Pokemon journey, Dawn chose Piplup to be her first Pokemon partner.
Since Dawn's mother used to be a Pokemon coordinator, Dawn aspires to be just as good as her mother was. Throughout Dawn's journey, she looks to her mother and her rivals for inspiration on how to become a better coordinator.
Dawn would also make two distinct rivals. Her childhood friend, Kenny, and her largest competition, Zoey. At the end of Sinnoh League Victors, Dawn would remain in the Sinnoh region.
Paul
Paul is a tough and unrelenting Pokemon trainer with no compassion for his Pokemon when it comes to training. Ash on the other hand, shows kindness towards his Pokemon and doesn't force his Pokemon during taining. As such, Paul and Ash sees each other as rivals to compete over who's training methods are superior, and who is the stronger trainer.
Once Ash and Paul encounter each other in the fourth round of the Sinnoh league, Ash is determined to come on top and the two ends their rivalry. Paul would continue to remain in the Sinnoh region at the conclusion of Sinnoh League Victors.
Kenny
Kenny is Dawn's childhood friend and is also an aspiring Pokemon coordinator. Both him and Dawn would participate in Pokemon contests throughout the Sinnoh region. Kenny would constantly tease Dawn with embarrasing stories and childhood nicknames.
During Kenny's journey, he would eventually develop a crush for Dawn and would challenge Ash for the right to journey with her. Ash would accept but lose that battle. However, Dawn would step in and say she wants to continue travelling with Ash but the two would surely meet again. At the conclusion of Sinnoh League Victors, Kenny would continue on his own journey.
Zoey
Zoey is another one of Dawn's rivals and is another Pokemon coordinator. She is often seen being very friendly with Dawn. Additionally, Ash and the gang often help her out and the same can be said likewise. However when it comes to Pokemon contests, Zoey gives everything shes got to showing her talent.
When it came to the final Pokemon contest, it was Dawn up against Zoey. Unfortunate for Dawn, Zoey had won by 1 point. When Zoey invited Dawn to her victory celebration, she declined and the two coordinators parted ways.
Team Galactic
Team Galactic are the regional villains in the Sinnoh region. Their aim is to recreate the universe with the use of the legendary Pokemons Dialga and Palkia, which are able to control Time and Space, respectively.
Their leader is the manipulative, Cyrus, who is originally disguised as a normal businessman.
Ash and his friends, along with the assistance of the Pokemon champion, Cynthia, and detective, Looker, are forced to prevent Team Galactic from initialising their plans or risk the safety of the universe that they call home.
